So today we travel to the great country of Italy.
Today’s word of the day is “Ciao“.
It’s used as a formal greeting to say “hello” or “goodbye”.
So I learned that using the word “Ciao” can be offensive in Italy. The word is actually believed to be rooted from “s-ciao” which was used by slaves to say “I am your slave.” or “I am at your service.” Italians knowing the history of the word may feel offended if a stranger uses the word.
