I know this song was released back in 2023, but this song has been on my radar for awhile now and it continues to grow in 2024.
Nailah Blackman seems to be a little of everywhere and I’m not mad at it at all. She has such a unique voice, vyb (vibe), and her music really hits the soul. As we continue to watch all genres of music go through their evolutions, I can say that I’m so happy that Soca continues to stay relatively clean and soulful. I always talk about Soca music being a genre that always brings you uplifting vybz. You can talk about being kicked out your house for drinking too much, you can talk about being wotless (worthless), and the song will still be sang in a positive manner. This is one of the reasons I truly enjoy Soca and I am glad it’s hitting globally on a different level right now.
I have to give Nailah her roses. I’ve been listening to her music quite a bit this New Year. Her music brings a much needed energy that some music has lost, that energy of love. That soul.
